Circa 1960. A lovely floor / table lamp by the French designer Louis Sognot (1892-1970).
Sognot was a cabinetmaker, influenced by Art Deco and Cubism and became a professor of decoration at the acclaimed l’Ecole Boule in the 1920s.
Constructed from bamboo, rattan and off-white cotton, this lamp features modest materials in response to material shortages after the war. When illuminated it casts beautifully soft light.
Good condition for it’s age with minor blemishes and traces of use to the cotton.
